Three questions you ask about every person in every seat: Do they Get It (do they instinctively understand the role)? Do they Want It (do they genuinely want to do the work)? Do they have the Capacity to Do It (the time, skill, and mental bandwidth)? All three must be ‘yes’ for someone to be in the right seat.

What it looks like in practice
An operations manager understands the role and has the time and skill for it, but admits they do not want to manage people. That is a no on Want it, so the seat is wrong for them.
The common mistake
Accepting a maybe. Each of the three is a yes or a no, and one no means the person is in the wrong seat.
